The runner up was Edward Sawbridge on a countback from Bill Smit, but the magnificent Spring Meeting Silver Challenge Cup (see this 1905 trophy in the LME lobby showcase) went to David Ratcliffe (Billiton) with 35 points. David thus also took the Captains’ Cup, the Directors’ Cupand the Carr Sargent Trophy (for Category One and Two Members) for Billiton.
The King Cup for 24-handicap was won by David Manners.
A wise decision was made by Captain Richie O’Neill, who was presented with his bowtie at luncheon, when he proposed that the afternoon foursomes competition for the Charles Davis Salver be abandoned. This will now be played for at the Autumn Meeting.
Our next event is the Annual Dinner on Thursday 4th June at the Little Ship Club where the Guest Speaker will be Ken Schofield. This is a real market get together and a chance to meet old friends and have a few beers in good company with a super dinner. There are some places left, but these will vanish in the next few days, so be quick in getting your booking in.
