It might also have had something to do with dry weather, a slap-up English breakfast, 18 holes of golf on a Harry Colt course and one of the best lunches on the entire circuit. Tandridge, on the sandy Weald as it is, had drained pretty well despite the recent wet weather and the course played beautifully, with especially quick and deceptive greens for the time of year.
Rob Draisey remembered to bring the Winchester Trophy he won last year, but just failed to repeat his success as Jan Rommer (Toyota) pipped him by two points on 37, with Ryan Jackson (AMT) the runner up and Neil Avent (ex JPM) coming in third. For the first time anyone could remember we had eleven guests at the meeting, where Stuart Cox, Colin Griffith’s guest, took the guest prize. Nearest the pin went to Ryan Jackson and Stephen Rapicano, Adam Sussmes’ guest hit the longest drive.
Sadly, although the Xmas Fayre is always held on Thanksgiving Day when the markets are virtually dead, not one of the LME’s staff played. Come on, ladies and gentlemen, it would be great to see you out on the course with the LME members one day – come and network!
The next event is the Annual General Meeting to be held at the London Metal Exchange at its new address in Finsbury Circus at 2pm on Friday February 26th 2016. The nominees for Captain and Vice-Captain are Ashok Singhania (Simportex) and Yang Liu (Standard Chartered) so please turn up in numbers.
DON’T FORGET TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIPS AT £40!
Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas, New Year and whatever other festivals and holidays you are celebrating
