The scratch trophy was won by your Captain, Chris Jones with a gross 79, while David Hardy took the Past Captains trophy with 40 points with David Manners taking the King Cup with 35.
The afternoon was, as usual, split into two competitions. The Charles Davis Salver was played for by four foursomes, Paul Shuter and Barry Watson for Drexel, Yang Liu and Richard O’Neill for Natixis, Alex Heath and Bill Smit for Gerald and James Haines and Steven Smith for AMT. The winners were Paul Shuter and Barry Watson, with 27 points over 11 holes, taking the salver by a point from Yang and Richard.
While this battle was raging, the rest of the field played a 12 hole three-ball competition, with the best two scores to count. The winning team was Chris Jones, Steven Spencer and Brian Woodbridge with 57 points, the latter scoring six pars in the opening seven holes to lead the trio to victory.
We hope you all enjoy the holiday break and remind you that the next fixtures on your return are the match against LCH Clearnet on 1st September at Kingswood, followed by the match against the Bank of England at Wildernesse on 18th September.
Please mark in your diaries the Autumn Meeting at Thorndon Park, Essex on 30th September and then the Xmas Fayre at Tandridge on Thanksgiving Day, 27th November. Let’s have a great turnout for these terrific days.
Lastly a big vote of thanks to Martin Pratt, who was unable to play on Captain’s Day, but kindly offered drinks for the day to everyone in his absence. Cheers!
