At lunch the foursomes were all square, with victories by Rob Draisey & Ian Taylor, Bill Smit & Edward Sawbridge and David Hardy & Brian Woodbridge. Sadly, the afternoon was not to be the same close match in the singles. With Ian Taylor delivering his second victory alongside wins by Yang Liu and Alan Jamieson and a half from David Ratcliffe, the LMEGA could only muster 3½ points against the 8½ by the LSE, leaving the final result 11½ - 6½ in favour of the LSE.
The next event is the City Quadrilateral at Effingham GC on Wednesday 9th July – now sadly the City Trilateral with the withdrawal of the Baltic Exchange, although for 2015 the LSE has promised to field a team. That match is now fully subscribed.
We then move on to the season’s biggest event – Captain’s Day on 24th July at the prestigious Ashridge GC, carefully selected to allow players from all over the London area to attend, even from Essex! Will all members make a very special effort to come and support your Captain, Chris Jones, on the day. There is only two weeks left to get your place reserved, so do please hurry.
