The singles Stableford was won outright by the redoubtable Rob Draisey, with 39 points and a consistent 19 on the front and 20 on the back nine. Martin Pratt, who had to console his family at the disappearance of the Winchester Bowl from his mantelpiece, came in runner-up with 37 points, matching Rob on the front nine, but failing by a couple of points on the back nine to overhaul him and beating Alan Jamieson, also with 37, into third place on a countback on the back nine.
The guest prize was won by Rob Smith, an 8 handicap guest of Danny Maylin, with 39 points.
Melanie Wells won the prize for ‘nearest the pin’ and Steven Smith took the longest drive, outgunning the Captain.
A round of applause was given to Sophia and Liberty, who have done so much in the past few years to keep the LMEGA members in line, organising the meetings, matches and Summer Tour and the Annual Dinner.
Finally, members thanked Chris Jones for his captaincy in 2014 and his generosity in time and hospitality, that made the year enjoyable for so many.
That concludes the entertainment for 2014 and we look forward to seeing you all at the LMEGA Annual General Meeting in February, when the new Captain and Vice Captain will be elected.
We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
