The opening round of the five was played the afternoon we arrived at Elie GC (http://www.golfhouseclub.co.uk/the-course/). This is a course not to be missed if you are in the area. It runs along cliffs down to the beach of the Firth of Forth and features some spectacular scenery. You can view the course through a submarine periscope in the starter’s hut. The day was won by Alex Heath with 39 points from Steven Spencer and John Ambery on 36. Alex was cut two shots for the second round and Steven and John one shot each. Derek Raphael came a useful 4th and the captain close behind on 34 points. The day’s average score was 30.47. only two players suffered their worst round of the tour at Elie – Allan Kerr and Frits Beek.

A special mention should go to Joanna Cheung who came on the tour straight from China as a guest of the Captain. Joanna played splendid golf throughout and had she been a LMEGA member would have come in second on tour.
Next year’s tour venue will be proposed by the Captain for 2018 and his choice plus one or two alternatives will be put to a vote for which anyone intending to tour will be eligible. The cost will be limited to about £800 for golf, accommodation and transfers but excluding flights and incidentals.
