The weather was kind for November, with temperatures hovering around 10C/50F, although there was a heavy atmosphere and lurking mist until around midday. However, this did nothing to dampen the scoring and 16 players returned Stableford scores of 30 or more.
The runaway winner and new holder of the Winchester Trophy with 40 points was Martin Pratt (Triland), with Danny Maylin (BoA Mellon) runner up on 36 and the consistent Derek Raphael coming in third with 35. The guest prize was taken by Colin Griffith’s guest, Stuart Cox, with 36 points.
We were delighted to welcome Ivor Foster, our Life President, who awarded the prizes and gave a vote of thanks to outgoing Captain, Michael Farmer, thanking him for his generosity and his acceptance of the captaincy after Ivor had pestered him for many years.
The prize for the longest drive went to Brian’s son and guest, Ben Woodbridge, while your Captain pipped David Hardy for the prize for ‘Nearest the Pin’ – by his own admission the first prize he had ever won at an LMEGA meeting.
That, Ladies and Gentlemen, concludes the entertainment for the year and we wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
